Description:

Circular porcelain dish painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a central sinuous dragon among clouds within double-line borders; two further dragons on the cavetto. The cobalt ranges from light to medium blue with some darker pooling, and the body shows kiln specks and minor rim nicks.

Assessment:

This appears to be a Ming-style blue-and-white ‘three dragons among clouds’ dish. The brushwork is somewhat mechanical, the cobalt lacks the rich “heaping-and-piling” tonal depth typical of 16th–early 17th century imperial wares, and the line work of the dragons’ heads and claws feels stiff. The glaze tone and even wear look later, and without a view of the base/footring or any reign mark it is safest to class this as a 20th‑century reproduction inspired by late-Ming designs. A word about fakes.. Chinese blue-and-white dragon wares are heavily copied; caution is essential and base/foot details are critical for authentication. {chavatar_catchphrase}     此盘为仿明代风格的青花“云龙”纹盘。

Provenance:

Not provided

Condition:

Good (surface wear, scattered kiln specks, small rim nicks; base not shown)

Identification Score: 85%

Form, painting, and motif clearly align with Chinese blue-and-white ‘dragon and clouds’ dishes; uncertainty remains about period/kiln without base view.

Authenticity Score: 30%

Brushwork and cobalt tonality look modern; proportions are stiff; surface wear appears uniform; absence of base/foot photos prevents confirming Ming manufacture—more consistent with a 20th-century reproduction.
