A matched pair of Louis XV style bergère armchairs with carved and painted beechwood frames, serpentine aprons, cabriole legs, and floral rococo carving to the crest and rails. The pale painted (gris-peinte) finish shows light wear and gilt traces; seats and backs are upholstered in later Aubusson-style floral tapestry with loose seat cushions and padded armrests. The proportions, continuous cabriole legs, and shell-scroll ornament place the design squarely in the Rococo vocabulary of mid-18th-century France, though the execution appears later.

Upholstery appears later and machine-woven in the Aubusson manner. Attractive decorators’ chairs with genuine age to the frames but not period Louis XV. A word about fakes.. French Louis XV seating is heavily reproduced; beware overly uniform machine carving, fresh ‘antiqued’ paint, modern staples or Phillips screws, and plywood seat rails. Underside and joint photos (mortise-and-tenon with pegs vs. modern construction) would help confirm the dating.
