Description:
A vintage mid-century modern sunburst wall clock with a gilt/brass finish. The circular dial reads 'VIALUX super' at 12 o’clock and shows Arabic numerals 1–12, a red seconds hand, and a small emblem above the words likely indicating '8 DAYS' at 6 o’clock. The bezel is gilt with small visible screws, and the body radiates alternating long faceted rays with shorter rod-like rays between, all in a bright gold tone. Likely a mechanical 8-day movement (back not shown); crystal appears to be glass or acrylic. Classic European MCM sunburst aesthetic.

Assessment:
A classic 1960s European sunburst wall clock branded Vialux, with attractive gilt rays and a readable Arabic-numeral dial. Design and typography are consistent with period examples, and there is visible light age to the dial and metal, which supports a vintage date. Working status and the exact movement type are unknown without rear views. A word about fakes.. mid-century sunburst clocks are widely reproduced today; modern copies often have very uniform, overly shiny finishes, modern sans-serif dials, and quartz movements with plastic backs. Your example shows period-style printing and light patina, but confirmation of the movement and backplate would firm up authenticity and value.

Provenance:
No provenance provided.
Condition:
Very good (light surface wear and small scratches to gilt rays; working status unverified)
Identification Score: 92%
Brand name 'VIALUX super' is clearly visible and the iconic sunburst form with alternating long/short rays matches mid-century European wall clocks; only the unseen back/movement prevents 100%.
Authenticity Score: 60%
Dial typography, patina, and construction look period, but absence of movement/back photos leaves open the possibility of later parts or a reproduction; many modern quartz sunburst clocks exist. Confirmation of an 8-day mechanical movement would raise this score.
Image Memory Note
Object: circular wall clock with a gold-tone starburst body. Alternating long faceted triangular rays and shorter thin rod rays around a central dial; approximate count suggests numerous rays in an evenly spaced pattern. Dial: cream/ivory tone with black Arabic numerals 1–12; minute hash marks at perimeter. Text at top: 'VIALUX super' in stylized sans-serif font. Center has three hands: black hour and minute hands, red seconds hand. At the lower dial above the 6 is a small emblem (crown/sun-like) with text that appears to read '8 DAYS' or possibly French '8 JOURS'. Bezel: gilt ring with small round head screws visible at cardinal points. Crystal: slightly domed, likely glass or acrylic. Finish: gold/brass color with mild patina; light scratches and small scuffs visible on several rays; dial shows gentle age toning. Mounting: clock hangs on a wall; back not visible; no maker’s plate, battery compartment, or winding key seen from this view. No additional inscriptions or serial numbers visible.
