Description:

An early 20th-century octagonal side/occasional table in the Jacobean/Tudor Revival taste. The top features a radiating oak veneer pattern with a banded border and moulded edge. Supported by three baluster-turned oak legs joined by serpentine stretchers in a triangular arrangement; square blocks above the feet and at stretcher joints. Medium-brown finish with light, honest wear consistent with age and domestic use.

Well-made interwar revival occasional table, typical of American production in the 1920s–30s. The machine-turned legs, veneered octagonal top with banding, and serpentine ‘Y’ stretcher are characteristic of Jacobean/Tudor Revival furniture popular in the period. Condition appears very good with light surface wear; structurally sound. A word about fakes.. While outright forgeries are less rampant in this category than in, say, Asian antiquities, there are many later reproductions (1950s–1970s and newer) distressed to look older. Key checks include veneer oxidation, even wear to edges, and period-appropriate machining. Based on visible patina and design details, this example reads as an authentic interwar piece rather than a recent reproduction.
