Surface shows oxidized, alligatored finish and honest edge wear to arms and seat, consistent with long use; many Windsors were originally painted and later stripped/varnished, which appears plausible here. Construction and wear patterns look hand-made rather than machine-perfect, though underside joinery (wedged through-tenons) is not shown, so a later 19th-century revival cannot be fully ruled out. A word about fakes.. Colonial Revival Windsors from the late 19th–early 20th century are common; they often show machine-perfect turnings and fresher surfaces.
